The Tides Inn, Can't Stop Talking about it!

Some places leave you speechless and others well... you just can’t shut up about them! I haven’t been able to stop talking about our family's recent trip to The Tides Inn.

This was not my first rodeo at The Tides in Irvington, VA (Northern Neck). Each time I visit I am met with a new upgrade or addition to the property. This being my fourth time staying, I was truly in awe of all the positive changes. The down to earth staff and experiences with true luxury details and amenities was the perfect potion for a memorable escape. Highlights The Shoreline Walk lines almost the complete shoreline of the property and offers a peaceful escape into the natural wildlife and sea creatures. Are you constantly creating? The Maker Space checks off the boxes for the creative types with pottery, candle making, jewelry classes and more! Love Cooking or need a few tricks to bring home? Across the hall is a chef demo kitchen for learning all the local recipes. Foodies should absolutely sign up for a cooking experience!

Love the sauce? Mixology classes and wine tastings offered on property. Wine trail tours can be arranged or just bike down to the local Dog & Oyster winery. Or simple enjoy a glass of wine on your balcony or at the restaurant patio soaking up the views.

Nature lover? Enjoy the beautiful grounds lined with colorful flowers and trees that have looked over the property for decades. Explore deeper on the shoreline walk or forest trail where you’ll find herbs and mushrooms growing for the kitchen. Go a bit deeper to find the bee hives collecting honey for future guests. Ask for Matt the horticulturist on property - I could have talked plants with that man all day!

Love the water? Enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking, the sandy little beach beside the pool and pool bar. Rent a Duffy Boat with a cheese and wine picnic to explore the coves around the property. Sailing lessons and sunset sails are also offered. Enjoy crabbing and oyster harvesting close to the property as well!

Love a good workout? Enjoy a bike ride through town, the fitness center, private yoga classes, tennis or golf (small practice course at the front of the property and nearby golf course for 18 holes). Or have a good splash at the pool!

Need to wind down? Enjoy a relaxing spa treatment on property. Excited to see the new spa pavilion that they will be working on next!

Need a little more luxury? We stayed in the AMAZING Ashford Suite. I love the rooms at The Tides, don't get me wrong but the Suite was...sweet! The amenities, space and décor took our room experience to the next level. I got to see a sneak peek of the Stephen's Suite that they are working on now. HOLY MOLY! Library/living space with murphy bed, full HUGE living and dining room, spacious primary bedroom with epic tub and walk-in shower. This suite has the option to connect to another suite as well. The views vary from spectacular to even more spectacular, depending on where you are in the suite.

Dining on Property - I like Fish Hawk down at the pool, perfect for a light lunch or a few drinks. Dinner is absolutely wonderful and lovely to eat on the patio as the sun goes down. Parent hack - request the table next to the croquet and bocce lawn area so you can enjoy while your kid plays and runs around. My favorite meal at The Tides? Breakfast! Eggs Chesapeake, please! Reservations recommended for breakfast and dinner.

For the Kiddos - Nature Trail, swing under the big trees in the front of property, explore marine life on the shoreline walk, pool time, beach time (beach toys at the towel stand for use), Duffy Boat Cruise, crabbing, Compass Entertainment Complex down the road. Croquet and Bocce Ball in front of property and of course you can't forget... smores around the firepit every night!
